Mansfield has three tree lightings this year, at three addresses, over a little more than two weeks. Mansfield ISD lights its tree on Nov. 19 on West Debbie Lane. Geyer Commons lights its tree on Nov. 28 on East Broad Street. The city lights its tree at City Hall on Dec. 4, also on East Broad, with fireworks.
The pattern in the city's Hometown Holidays calendar is that each lighting comes right before a busier stretch than the one before it. After the third lighting, the calendar fills up fast. From Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6, it lists ten separate events across downtown, East Broad, the 287 frontage road and the performing arts center on Debbie Lane. If you're only going to plan one weekend in Mansfield this season, plan that one.
Before Any Tree Goes Up, Saturday Belongs to Veterans
The season starts this Saturday, Nov. 7, with something other than lights. The city's Veterans Day Parade & Salute runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Julian Feild Park, 1531 E. Broad St. It's listed on the City of Mansfield calendar next to Hometown Holidays as a related special event. That pairing makes sense, since both events sit on the same stretch of East Broad, about a month apart.
Next week also has a deadline. Presale pricing for the new Mansfield Live Opry ends Nov. 11, which is covered further down.
Three Lightings, Three Different Evenings
The three ceremonies are different kinds of nights, and each one leads into a different weekend.
| Lighting | Date and time | Where | What comes with it |
|---|---|---|---|
| MISD Tree Lighting Ceremony and Concert | Thursday, Nov. 19, 6–8 p.m. | Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts, 1110 W. Debbie Lane | Holiday music by students from the Jandrucko Academy and Children's Center, then the lighting |
| Geyer Commons Tree Lighting | Saturday, Nov. 28, 4–6 p.m. | Geyer Commons, 605 E. Broad St. | Community tree lighting brought to you by Texas Health Hospital |
| Hometown Holidays | Friday, Dec. 4, 5–9 p.m. | Mansfield City Hall, 1200 E. Broad St. | Tree lighting, fireworks, holiday market, carnival rides, live performances, food and Santa |
The district's lighting is on a school night and ends early. It's built around a student concert. The event page calls it one of Mansfield ISD's "most beloved traditions."
The Geyer Commons lighting is the one to plan Thanksgiving weekend around. It's a short 4 to 6 p.m. window on Saturday, Nov. 28. The Fleetwood Project's "All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914" plays Farr Best Theater, 109 N. Main St., at 7:30 p.m. that same night and the night before. Geyer Commons hosts the Tiny Turkey Market the next afternoon, Sunday, Nov. 29, from noon to 5 p.m. It's a market where every shop is run by kids. The listing calls it a chance to support "small (very small!) businesses" and says details and the application for young sellers are "coming soon."
On paper, the long weekend with family in town looks like this: Friday night at the theater, the tree on Saturday afternoon, another Farr Best show Saturday night if you didn't go Friday, and the kids' market on Sunday.
The Night Before the Big Weekend
Toys for Tots fills Thursday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. back at the Vaszauskas Center on Debbie Lane. The city calls it "one of our biggest, and most loved, holiday events of the year." The listing includes performances, photos with Santa, holiday train rides and decorations. Guests are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Mansfield families in need.
That's four straight nights of events, Thursday through Sunday, if your household wants all of them.
Dec. 4–6, Hour by Hour
These are the ten listings from the Hometown Holidays calendar for that weekend, in order:
- Friday, 5–9 p.m. Hometown Holidays at City Hall, 1200 E. Broad St. It's the third tree lighting of the season and the only one with fireworks. The listing still says "check back for more details," so parking and the fireworks time haven't been posted yet.
- Friday, 7:30 p.m. "All is Calm" at Farr Best Theater, for anyone who'd rather be downtown.
- Saturday, 7:30 a.m. The FALALALA 5K, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield, starting and finishing at RunUnited, 650 U.S. 287 Frontage Road. It has run since 2010 on the first Saturday of December, is chip-timed with disposable chips on the bibs, and takes registration through Race Roster.
- Saturday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Holiday at the House at the Man House Museum, 604 W. Broad St. It's free, with historic gift-making and tours of the house decorated for an 1870s Christmas.
- Saturday, 2 p.m. MISD Dance Spectacular, the first of two shows at the Vaszauskas Center.
- Saturday, 5 p.m. Mistletoe & Masterpieces opens at Wallace-Hall Art House, 210 S. Main St. It's billed as "Local Artists. Original Works. Timeless Gifts." and runs through Jan. 6, 2027.
- Saturday, 7 p.m. MISD Dance Spectacular, second show.
- Saturday, 7:30 p.m. "All is Calm" at Farr Best Theater.
- Sunday, 2–6 p.m. The Mansfield Women's Club 2026 Holiday Home Tour.
- Sunday, 2:30 p.m. The last listed "All is Calm" performance at Farr Best.
On Saturday, the downtown events line up with almost no gaps. The Man House on West Broad closes at 3 p.m., Wallace-Hall on South Main opens its show at 5 p.m., and Farr Best on North Main starts at 7:30 p.m. That's a full afternoon and evening on two downtown streets, and you can do it without crossing 287.
Dance Spectacular tickets were scheduled to go on sale in early November, according to the event page. Families with a student dancer will want to check the Fine Arts department's ticket release now, before the two shows fill up.
The Man House Shows Up Twice
The Man House Museum has the busiest weekend of any single building in the lineup. It opens for Holiday at the House on Saturday. Then on Sunday, it's part of the Women's Club Holiday Home Tour, which the city's event page describes as a tour of "some of Mansfield's most decorated houses, including the Man House for the first time."
The Mansfield Women's Club tour page says more details and ticket links are coming, so the rest of the 2026 homes and the ticket price haven't been published yet.
If you go to Holiday at the House on Saturday, you'll have seen one of the tour stops before the tour begins. That frees up more of Sunday afternoon for the other homes, or for the 2:30 p.m. "All is Calm" matinee.
After the Peak, December Shifts Indoors
After Dec. 6, the calendar mostly moves to theaters and sanctuaries, and it starts with something new.
Mansfield Live Opry, Friday, Dec. 11, 7–9:30 p.m., Farr Best Theater. The MZP Foundation presents this family-friendly, opry-style show with country, gospel and patriotic music, comedy and Christmas favorites. Visit Mansfield's listing calls it the evening "Mansfield revives its musical heritage." It also says, "This inaugural performance launches the 2027 Mansfield Live Opry season."
Presale ticket prices run through Nov. 11. That's $24.05 for adults and $12.03 for seniors, youth and veterans. A 13-show season pass with reserved seating in designated sections costs $273.39 for adults and $138.19 for seniors, youth and veterans. A household deciding between the Dec. 11 show and the whole season has less than a week after this post goes up to lock in presale pricing.
Mansfield Philharmonic Christmas Pops, Sunday, Dec. 13, 6–7:30 p.m. It's held at First Methodist Mansfield, 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive, as a co-production with the church's 60-voice Traditional Worship Arts choir under director Dr. Scott Ferrell. Admission is free.
Saturday, Dec. 19 is the season's second crowded Saturday, though it's smaller than Dec. 5:
- Art Ballet Academy presents "The Nutcracker" at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Vaszauskas Center, with tickets through the academy.
- The Jane Austen Day Tea Party runs 2 to 5 p.m. at Geyer Commons. It's a birthday party for the author of "Mansfield Park," with crafts, classical music and literary trivia.
- The Troupe Theatre's comedy "A Christmas Chaos" plays Farr Best at 7:30 p.m. Its run opens Friday, Dec. 18, and has 7:30 p.m. performances listed for the following Sunday and Monday too.
Geyer Commons shows up at the start and the end of the season. The tree lights there on Nov. 28, and the last big gathering on the calendar is the Austen tea party three weeks later, in the same spot on East Broad.
Putting the Season on One Fridge Calendar
Here are the season's dates laid out week by week:
- Week of Nov. 2: Veterans Day Parade & Salute on Saturday, Nov. 7.
- Week of Nov. 9: Opry presale ends Wednesday, Nov. 11.
- Week of Nov. 16: MISD tree lighting on Thursday, Nov. 19.
- Thanksgiving weekend: "All is Calm" on Nov. 27 and 28, the Geyer Commons tree on Nov. 28, and the Tiny Turkey Market on Nov. 29.
- Dec. 3–6: Toys for Tots, Hometown Holidays and the ten-listing weekend.
- Dec. 11–13: Opry debut and Christmas Pops.
- Dec. 18–21: "A Christmas Chaos," "The Nutcracker" and the Austen tea.
Mistletoe & Masterpieces stays open at Wallace-Hall Art House through Jan. 6, 2027, so there's still a place downtown to buy a locally made gift after the rest of the calendar winds down.
Our team does a lot of driving up and down Broad Street this time of year, and we'd be glad to compare notes on which tree lighting is worth the trip. If a season of Mansfield weekends has you wondering whether you're in the right home, or the right part of town, for the next few holidays, Krissy Mireles and the team are a phone call away. Let's talk about your next move.
